The Electoral Institute (TEI) has commenced a five-day technical training workshop for key electoral officials in Ekiti State as preparations intensify for the 2026 Ekiti State Governorship Election.
The workshop, themed “Effective Management of Key Electoral Processes and Activities,” is holding at Koltotel Plaza and Suites, GRA, Ado-Ekiti, and is aimed at strengthening the capacity of election administrators ahead of the polls.
Strengthening Electoral Preparedness
According to TEI, the training is designed to ensure that all participants are fully informed, up-to-date, and well-versed in the latest electoral procedures, reforms, and innovations introduced by the Commission for the conduct of credible elections in Nigeria.
The programme also seeks to reinforce operational efficiency and uniformity in the implementation of electoral guidelines across the state.
Participants Drawn from Key Electoral Units
Participants at the workshop include the Head of Department of Electoral Operations, State Training Officer (STO), Assistant State Training Officer (ASTO), Electoral Officers (EOs), and Assistant Electoral Officers (AEOs) across Administration, Operations, and Cluster units.
Others are the Local Government Training Officers (LGTOs) from all sixteen Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Ekiti State, underscoring the broad institutional coverage of the exercise.
Workshop Declared Open by REC
The workshop was officially declared open by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ekiti State, Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi, who was accompanied by the Administrative Secretary of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ekiti State, Mr. Tope Aina.
Dr. Omoseyindemi emphasized the importance of continuous training, describing it as critical to ensuring credible, transparent, and efficient electoral processes.
Part of Broader Election Preparation Strategy
The training marks the first in a series of capacity-building programmes for both permanent and ad hoc electoral personnel ahead of the forthcoming governorship election scheduled for 20th June 2026 in Ekiti State.
