The Future Awards Africa (TFAA) has officially unveiled The Future Awards Africa Independent (TFAAi), a state-based initiative designed to extend the organisation’s impact beyond the national spotlight and deepen engagement at the grassroots level.
The new platform, described as an extension of TFAA’s long-standing excellence framework, aims to intentionally identify and amplify individuals doing exceptional work within their communities but who lack visibility or access to major platforms.
Through TFAAi, the organisation says it is taking The Future Awards Africa ethos closer to the people, creating a structured pathway for local changemakers to gain recognition, mentorship, capacity support, and access to broader continental opportunities.
Pilot Phase to Cover Four Key States
The pilot phase of TFAAi will roll out across Kano, Abia (Aba), Rivers (Port Harcourt), and Oyo (Ibadan), with a focus on impact-driven programmes, strategic partnerships, and grassroots community engagement.
The initiative will feature state-level award ceremonies, open nominations processes, mentorship and networking opportunities, community engagement activities, and leadership development programmes.
According to the organisers, the goal is to strengthen local ecosystems while building a pipeline of emerging leaders who can transition onto national and continental platforms.
Regional Hubs to Reflect Local Strengths
Each of the four states will serve as a strategic hub reflecting its unique socio-economic strengths, Kano State will spotlight youth leadership, enterprise, and community-driven innovation in Northern Nigeria, Abia State (Aba) will amplify entrepreneurship, technology, and emerging industries in the South-East, Rivers State (Port Harcourt) will champion creativity, enterprise, and social innovation in the South-South, while Oyo State (Ibadan) will highlight education, culture, enterprise, and youth leadership in the South-West.
The organisers noted that this state-focused structure is intended to ensure context-driven recognition and sustainable impact.
A More Inclusive Platform: Project Lead
Speaking at the launch, TFAA Project Lead, Ngozi Chijuka, described TFAAi as a natural evolution of the organisation’s mission.
“The Future Awards Africa Initiative (TFAAi) represents the next chapter in our commitment to celebrating excellence across Nigeria and the continent. Through TFAAi, we are deepening our local presence and creating a more inclusive platform that ensures individuals driving meaningful change in their communities are recognized and supported where it matters most — at home. This expansion empowers the next generation of changemakers to thrive,” she said.
Structured Committees and Strategic Partnerships
The initiative will operate through structured state committees in collaboration with local institutions, private sector stakeholders, and community organisations.
Organisers say this governance model is designed to ensure credibility, transparency, and long-term sustainability across participating states.
The official rollout will commence with stakeholder engagements in the four pilot states, followed by the announcement of nomination timelines, programme initiatives, and state recognition events.
With TFAAi, TFAA signals a renewed commitment to ensuring that talent, innovation, and impact are celebrated regardless of geography — bringing national recognition closer to the communities where change begins.
