The Electronic Media Content Owners Association of Nigeria, EMCOAN, has expressed satisfaction over the willingness of the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission, NBC, to collaborate with it for a successful digitization of the broadcast.
Its President, Debbie Odutayo, said though the regulatory body failed to achieve the June digital switch-over deadline, better and deeper collaboration with major stakeholders would largely contribute to a successful actualisation of the new target date.
Odutayo said the NBC was now taking the bull by the horns, with the facilitation of EMCOAN’s participation in international events such as Mipcom which holds in France in October.
She said this was a good step in the right direction as there couldn’t be an effective switch-over if the content owners were not carried along in the process.
In the next eighteen months as extended by NBC, Nigeria will join the likes of Ghana, which appears to serve as a benchmark.
