Dataphyte, a leading civic technology and data organisation, has announced that it will deliver real-time reporting on the upcoming FCT Area Council Elections scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026. The initiative builds on the organisation’s experience covering the 2023 general elections and the 2025 Anambra State gubernatorial election.
The live reporting will provide timely updates across Dataphyte’s digital platforms, including X, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Coverage will include on-the-ground incident reports, short- and long-form issue-based reporting, and real-time election results. Incident reports and election results will also be available on Dataphyte’s Election Portal (DEP).
Issue-based reporting will focus on emerging election-related concerns across the six Area Councils, such as the preparedness of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the capacity of polling officials to operate BVAS machines, timeliness of presiding officers, availability of voting materials, accessibility for persons with disabilities, deployment and effectiveness of security personnel, and incidents of electoral malpractice.
To strengthen reporting, Dataphyte will collaborate with 21st Century Community Empowerment for Youth and Women Initiative, the Center for Transparency Advocacy (CTA), and the Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative (BBYDI). These partnerships are expected to enhance the quality and reach of real-time updates and ensure accurate coverage of election activities across all polling locations.
According to Dataphyte’s Program Manager, Abdulahi Adebayo, “The integrity of this election is critical as we approach the 2027 general elections. Through real-time reporting from the 2,822 polling units in the six FCT Area Councils, Dataphyte will provide verified and data-driven updates that strengthen local democratic governance, promote transparency, and empower citizens with timely information.”
Dataphyte’s live election reporting is designed to provide open access to election data, offer evidence-based analysis of election issues, and promote accountability among electoral stakeholders. The initiative underscores Dataphyte’s commitment to enhancing access to public data and supporting inclusive, transparent democratic processes.
Dataphyte is a data, research, and civic technology think tank with a range of products including the Dataphyte Election Portal (DEP), Goloka, Nubia AI, Anfani, Nigeria Tax Calculator, Climate Data Portal, and Dataphyte Hub.
