According to the latest Google analytics for Mafrik TV, the channel has grown within the last two years of its launch on Tuluntulu apps. The mobile channel plays premium music videos from West Africa and with current statistics, it has 21,825 sessions in Nigeria (23.82%), 18,110 sessions within South Africa (19.76%), 15,749 sessions from Ghana and Tanzania has 15,509 session.
Other countries with lesser sessions include Kenya, US, Uganda, UK and Netherland. According to Dan Akinlolu, Founder of Mafrik TV and CEO of Media Navigation, “it is quiet exciting to see that our audience is growing; the interest in West African music, especially Nigerian music is highly infectious.
The strategy is to maintain exciting quality music videos from that region and stream it on our platform on Tuluntulu apps. Special thanks to the team especially Ria Hepburn, she works very hard to make sure the schedule is timely and interesting.”
Mafrik TV as of December 2016 has a total of 1,796,225 screen views, over 59,000 users and over 91,627 sessions. Mr. Dan Akinlolu further comment that, it is not all the way easy; we are still working harder to sustain our audiences’ interest by shooting low budget music video without compromising on quality for new and upcoming artistes using our cinema cameras and other facilitates.
We are also trying to figure out the monetization of the channel. Next year we hope to introduce more in-house short format content that will drive the channel into new height. At the moment we have just launched mafriktv.com – a digital entertainment news platform that will also serve as a TV guide to our channel on Tuluntulu apps. Trust me, next year is gonna be great.
