Civil Society News Weekly debut on RadioOne, 103.5fm, Lagos

In a bid to raise the reportage of the development sector within and outside Nigeria, Civil Society News Network, a production of Media Advocacy Promotion for Development Initiative, a media NGO based in Lagos is set to commence a 30-minute radio program starting from Tuesday 5th January 2016.
The program CSNews Weekly set out to fill the gap between development activities and it’s reportage will be aired on the the station of FRCN Radio One 103.5 fm, between 10.30 and 11am every Tuesday.
As contained in a statement released by the NGO, ‘lack of relevant information and communication medium in Africa has been the major lacuna that is not connecting the dot about activities of development sector in Africa with the entire universe, hence, the need for such program.’
The program is divided into 3 segment; SDGs On Air, a feature spot on Sustainable Development Goals, Notice Board which seeks to bring to listeners reports of recent events, activities and opportunities and Spotlight which focus on the profiling CSOs,NGOs and other corporate bodied in the development world.

Mayowa Adeniran, the Managing Editor of Civil Society News Network noted that the program will present to a large society of audience; a sectional media

content program on CSOs sectors, by reporting and showcasing activities, events, issues and success stories of the sector.

He highlighted the functions the program is set out to perform;

CSNews Weekly shall serve as an avenue for feedback about activities of stakeholders, recipients and events that would capture the sights, sound and memorable moments within and outside Nigeria.

To inform and sensitize the general public basically on the CSOs sector, different tiers of government and other relevant stakeholders activities at attaining sustainable development in Nigeria

To popularize the unknown activities of CSOs and other relevant development actors.

To look for positive angles and balance when reporting stories about the development sector

To create a platform for the people to have a say in governance and make development efforts work for them.

To create an interface with CSOs and the people on the ground towards contributing to development.

The maiden edition of the radio program will commence on Radio One, 103:5 fm, Lagos, on January 5,2016 and later aired on major radio stations

The program will also make use of social media networks where audience can reach the company and participate across board
