The Independent National Electoral Commission has today declared the Bayelsa Elections of December 4, 2015 inconclusive due to violence, abduction of electoral officials and ballot box snatching according to Premium Times.
This decision was said to have been taken after some men 2 Toyota Hilux vehicles carrying 24 ballot boxes was said to have stormed the Yenogoa Collation Centre claiming they collected the ballot boxes from soldiers who were firing at them to return the boxes even though they did not appear to be INEC Officials.
Journalists covering the collation center were asked to move to the INEC office shortly afterwards for a press briefing on the situation in Southern Ijaw LGA.
However results announced so far by INEC indicate that Governor Seriake Dickson has a clear lead in the election.
Mr. Dickson, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, won in majority of the seven local government areas announced on Sunday by INEC while his main challenger, Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has so far scored the second highest number of votes.
