A non-governmental Organisation, Centre for Citizens with Disabilities, (CCD), has called for the need to remove barrier’s against the participation of citizens with disabilities in socio-economic activities in Nigeria.
At an Interactive Forum Organised by the centre in Lagos, the Executive Director Centre for Promotion of Ethics Values and National/Integration, Isioma Fidel-Ewerem, said people living with disabilities were not being given enough opportunity under the Millennium Development Goals,(MDG’s), of the country.
Fidel-Ewerem stressed the need to adopt fairness and equitable distribution in governance.
Also, one of the organisers of the event, David Ahyaele, said the forum sought to implement the Lagos State Special People’s Law, 2010.
Ahyaele said the forum would also maximize the potentials of people living with disabilities and work to promote independnet living.
