In a decisive move to confront the escalating health crisis on the continent, the African Union (AU) has convened an emergency High-Level Meeting to mobilize a powerful, coordinated response against the ongoing Ebola outbreak.
The summit, chaired by H.E. Évariste Ndayishimiye, President of the Republic of Burundi and Chairperson of the African Union, brought together continental leaders, international partners, United Nations agencies, and regional organizations to fortify Africa’s health defenses.

“We must focus on enhancing national and regional response plans, strengthening cross-border coordination, and scaling up preparedness, surveillance, and containment measures,” Chairperson Youssouf stated. “Sustained solidarity and collective action among Member States and partners are absolutely vital to prevent further transmission of the disease and to invest in resilient health systems across the continent.”
