The CVL annual lecture – the flagship of all CVL programmes, which has been held every February 6 since 2004, is a key instrument we have adopted to constructively contribute to nation building and national development. This day also happens to be the birthday of our Founder, Prof Pat Utomi, so the event is used to mark his birthday.
The 2016 lecture took a critical look at the theme – Wealth, Poverty and Human Destiny. Prof Yemi Osinbajo, Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria delivered the Keynote Speech. The event featured many distinguished speakers from across the globe. Some of them are: Mr. Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda, Rev Fr Godfrey Nzamujo, Founder, Songhai Farms, Benin Republic, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, Mrs. Nana Afadzinu, Executive Director, WACSI, Mr. Innocent Chukwuma, Regional Director, Ford Foundation, West Africa. The Chairman of the event was Mr. Foluso Philips, Former Chairman, NESG.
The annual lecture has birthed other life transforming and values-transmission programmes at CVL. These programmes have impacted more than 1,000,000 lives in the more than a dozen years existence of CVL.
For the 2017 edition, we will be discussing the theme: Living Well Together, Tomorrow: The Challenge of Africa’s Future Cities.
