Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), a federal government agency that is charged with the responsibilities for coordinating and supervising all energy functions and activities within each member state is to showcase concrete and measurable impact of development activities at KUZHAKO village in Bwari LGA, FCT, Abuja.
The project that is being carrying out with the support of UNDP’s sustainable development programme is to establish Kuzhako as pilot Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) village and expand access to modern energy services in the village, where majority of the population is heavily dependent on the traditional solid fuels (wood, crop residues) for cooking and local kerosene lamps for lighting.
The village has a population of about 200 people consisting of approximately 44% (20% – men and 24% women) – Adults (over 18 yrs of age), 15% – Youths that are less than 18 years
Before the intervention, the village had abandoned fish pond due to the lack of diesel to power the generator set used for water pumping; water hand pump, primary school.
