The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its dedication to building sustainable partnerships aimed at improving child nutrition, enhancing quality education, and driving human capital development across public primary schools.

This commitment took center stage at the closing ceremony of the Adopt-A-School PBAT Feeds Programme, themed “Snacks for Thought,” held at Ibeju-Lekki Primary School in Epe. The initiative, organized under the Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme, serves as a strategic blueprint for safeguarding the health and educational outcomes of the state’s youngest citizens.
Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Audit Service Commission, Mrs. Oluwakemi Amudat Garbadeen-Adedeji, emphasized that the initiative represents a vital investment in the state’s future.
“No child should have to learn on an empty stomach,” Sanwo-Olu stated.“The ‘Snacks for Thought’ initiative underscores the critical intersection where food security meets national security. By investing heavily in the health and education of our children today, we are effectively laying the foundation for stronger communities and a more prosperous nation tomorrow.”
Digital Innovation and Civic Collaboration
The pilot phase of the programme introduces an innovative framework allowing corporate organizations, institutions, and public-spirited individuals to adopt public primary schools through a transparent digital platform. This portal enables sponsors to fund nutritious snacks for pupils while directly monitoring the real-world impact of their contributions. To expand the reach of the initiative, the Governor announced the upcoming soft launch of the Adopt-A-School ‘Snacks for Thought’ Dashboard across various social media platforms, providing prospective partners with the tracking tools and information necessary to participate.
Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed deep gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes education and human capital as pillars of national growth. He also commended the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her sustained advocacy for children and vulnerable groups.
Economic Growth Through Agriculture
Beyond classroom performance, the school feeding initiative is designed to operate as an economic catalyst for local industries. By sourcing meals locally, the state government aims to stimulate local agriculture and create immediate economic opportunities for farmers, food processors, caterers, and transporters. This holistic approach strengthens the local value chain while simultaneously addressing malnutrition.
The Lagos State Government concluded the event with a call to action, urging corporate entities and private citizens to actively adopt schools. The administration assured all stakeholders of its commitment to maintaining an enabling environment and strengthening accountability to ensure the long-term success of the programme.
