The Nigerian Senate Confirms 9 Resident Electoral Commissioners

The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday, February 14, confirmed nine (9) nominees to serve as Resident Electoral Commissioners, REC of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The confirmation is coming after a report was submitted by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Senator Suleiman Nazif at the plenary and the successful screening of individual nominee at the Committee level.

Those confirmed are: Baba Abba Yusuf (Borno), Mr. Segun Agbaje (Ekiti), Elder Monday Udom Tom (Akwa Ibom), Eric Olawale (Osun), Dr. Uthman Abdulrahman (Kwara), Dr. Cyril Omorogbe (Edo), Yahaya Bello (Nasarawa), Dr. Emmanuel Alex Hart (Rivers) and Mohammed Magaji Ibrahim (Gombe).

In his remarks, Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki sustained the Committee reports, while thanking the Committee for the detailed screening of nominees.
