Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced a total ban on operations of commercial motorcycles known as Okada in some Local Government Areas in the state.
The governor gave the order on Wednesday during a meeting with all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Area Commanders across the state at the Lagos House, Marina.
The ban is to take effective from June 1, 2022.
Affected areas include, Ikeja, Surulere, Eti Osa, Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island and Apapa LGAs.
The ban is coming following the death of Mr David, a sound engineer, who was reportedly set ablaze by okada riders last Thursday in Ikoyi.
