The Lagos State Government has announced the commencement of the Y2026 Ministerial Press Briefing, a month-long exercise designed to provide a transparent account of the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Dr. Obafemi Hamzat administration’s stewardship over the past year.
Starting Monday, May 11, 2026, members of the State Executive Council will take turns to present the facts and figures behind the milestones achieved under the administration’s THEMES+ Agenda. Organized by the Ministry of Information and Strategy, the briefings serve as a vital link between the government and the public, detailing how developmental pillars have translated into improved welfare for Lagosians.
A Pre-Election Milestone for Accountability
This year’s edition carries additional weight as it precedes the upcoming general elections. The briefings are intended to offer the public a comprehensive lens through which to evaluate the performance of the current leadership while gaining insight into future strategies for a Greater Lagos.
According to the government, the exercise is more than just a summary of projects; it is a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and purposeful leadership.
Direct Public Engagement
Reflecting on the importance of the event, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, emphasized the administration’s open-door policy regarding its achievements.
“The annual event provides an important platform for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to present the achievements of the present administration across various developmental pillars. It is an opportunity to engage with Lagosians on the bold efforts at improving the welfare of all,” Omotoso stated.
Digital Access and Transparency
In line with the state’s drive for transparency and accountability, the government has ensured that the proceedings are accessible to all citizens, regardless of their location. All briefing sessions will be live-streamed across the state’s official social media handles, allowing for real-time monitoring of the reports.
By opening the floor to media engagement, the Sanwo-Olu administration aims to reinforce its track record of responsible governance and ensure that every Lagosian is informed of the progress made in the journey toward a more prosperous state.
