President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday officially inaugurated a series of strategic infrastructure projects in Lagos State, hailing them as vital symbols of a government dedicated to tangible development.
The projects, executed by the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, include the Open-Mende-Ojota Link Bridge, the Lagos State Geographical Information System (LAGIS) building, and a Multi-agency Complex.
The President was represented at the ceremony by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, who formally commissioned the sites on his behalf. Addressing the audience, Akpabio noted that the President’s absence was due to the demanding responsibilities of his office, which often necessitate his presence at various national engagements simultaneously.
Bridging the Gap to Economic Opportunity
A central highlight of the event was the unveiling of the Open-Mende-Ojota Link Bridge, a project designed to drastically reduce commute times and ease the perennial traffic congestion in the heart of the city. In a statement released through the Special Assistant on Media to the Senate President, Anietie Ekong, President Tinubu emphasized that infrastructure is the backbone of urban productivity.
“The Ojota-Okpebi Link Bridge is more than a road; it is a bridge to opportunity,” the President stated. “In a city like Lagos, movement is everything. When traffic improves, productivity improves. When time is saved, businesses grow. When access is easier, lives get better. This project sends a clear message: we will not be overwhelmed by the challenges of growth; we will solve them.”
A Legacy of Administrative Excellence
The President also expressed deep appreciation to the Lagos State Government for naming the newly commissioned Multi-agency Complex in Alausa the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Administrative Complex. While accepting the honor with humility, he insisted that the milestone reflects the strength of a collective system rather than a single individual.
“This achievement is about more than one man. It is about a system and a public service that continues to deliver,” Tinubu noted. He further described the complex as an investment in efficiency and coordination, designed to strengthen the government’s capacity to serve the citizenry.
Turning his attention to the LAGIS building, the President remarked that the facility represents the future of Nigeria, aligning with a national vision for a modern, digitally enabled, and economically strong nation. He urged other states to replicate such standards across the country to ensure uniform progress.
Sanwo-Olu’s Vision for a Modern Megacity
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, speaking during the ceremony, reiterated his administration’s focus on eliminating bureaucratic bottlenecks. He highlighted that the LAGIS building is a game-changer for land administration, as it will eliminate paper-based bottlenecks and provide more security for property rights. 
Regarding the new administrative complex, the Governor noted it was designed to improve the speed and efficiency of government services while ensuring the comfort and well-being of the personnel tasked with delivering them.
The inauguration of these projects is part of a broader, aggressive infrastructure expansion drive by the Lagos State Government. President Tinubu commended Governor Sanwo-Olu and his team for their focus and discipline, assuring Nigerians that the federal government remains steadfast in its mission to expand opportunities and strengthen governance through high-impact infrastructure.
