The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been collected by registered voters ahead of the Osun State Governorship Election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026.
In a statement issued on Thursday, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, said the figure represents 81.50 per cent of the 2,339,233 registered voters in the state.
432,843 PVCs Remain Uncollected
According to INEC, 432,843 PVCs, representing 18.50 per cent, were not collected by registered voters.
The commission said the uncollected cards have been safely deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in line with its established practice.
INEC also disclosed that some registered voters whose cards were damaged, defaced or lost applied for replacement.
Of those who applied for replacement, 6,101 persons printed downloadable copies of their PVCs, the commission said.
INEC Publishes Polling Unit Figures
The electoral body said it has also published a polling unit-by-polling unit table of collected PVCs on its official website for public access.
The publication is expected to provide political parties, civil society organisations, the media and other stakeholders with detailed information on PVC collection across the state ahead of the election.
Commission Assures Osun Voters of Readiness
INEC reaffirmed its readiness to conduct the election, assuring stakeholders that it would be free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive.
“The Commission reassures political parties, civil society organisations, media, and the good people of Osun State of its total readiness to conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent, and inclusive election,” Haruna said.
The Osun governorship election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 15, 2026, with voters across the state expected to choose the next governor.
