The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has launched the National Digital Literacy Dashboard to track progress, improve coordination and support data-driven decisions in Nigeria’s digital literacy drive.
The dashboard has recorded 2,769,512 reported digital literacy training achievements across 252 active reporting organisations, covering all 774 Local Government Areas and 14,664 communities over the past three years.
The initiative is expected to strengthen monitoring and accountability as Nigeria works towards expanding digital literacy nationwide.
Cisco, NITDA Lead Training Contributions
According to the dashboard, Cisco recorded the highest number of reported training achievements, with 1,073,604, followed by NITDA with 960,424 and Meta Platforms Inc. with 333,816.
Other contributors include Imo Digital City Limited, the Sokoto State Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy, the Bureau for ICT and Digital Economy, digital development agencies in Jigawa, Kaduna and Zamfara states, as well as the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD).
The contributions reflect the involvement of government agencies, technology companies and development organisations in efforts to improve digital literacy across the country.
Dashboard to Improve Planning and Resource Allocation
NITDA said the dashboard would help identify gaps in digital literacy training, reduce duplication of efforts and improve resource allocation.
The platform is expected to provide a clearer picture of ongoing training activities across communities, enabling stakeholders to identify underserved areas and better coordinate interventions.
Nigeria Targets 70% Digital Literacy by 2027
The dashboard supports Nigeria’s target of achieving 70 per cent digital literacy by 2027 and 95 per cent by 2030.
The targets align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s priority areas, which include accelerating economic diversification through industrialisation, digitisation, creative arts, manufacturing and innovation.
With the new dashboard, NITDA aims to strengthen the monitoring of digital literacy initiatives and support evidence-based planning as the country works towards its national targets.
