The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has officially refuted reports claiming that the Federal Government directed a suspension of enforcement actions against sachet alcohol and 200ml PET bottle alcoholic products.

In a statement released by the agency, NAFDAC characterized the publication as false and misleading, noting that no such communication has been received from the Federal Government. The agency maintains that its regulatory activities remain in full effect according to its statutory mandate.

“The said publication is false, misleading, and does not reflect any official communication received by the Agency from the Federal Government. NAFDAC operates strictly within the ambit of its statutory mandate and in alignment with duly communicated Federal Government policies and directives,” stated NAFDAC Director General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye.

The agency further clarified that at no point has it received a formal directive to halt the regulation of these products. NAFDAC urged the public and industry stakeholders to disregard the unverified reports, warning that the spread of such information can lead to public anxiety and economic uncertainty.

Prof. Adeyeye reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to public health and transparent regulation, noting that any significant changes to national policy would only be shared through verified, official government channels.
