MRS. Abiodun Becomes UN Sustainable Devt. Champion, To Attend Forum In New York

Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, wife of Ogun State Governor, has been appointed as the United Nations Sustainable Development Champion.
Mrs Abiodun appreciated the Civil Society Coalition on Sustainable Development (CSCSD), for the appointment while speaking at Iperu, during a courtesy call on her by the leadership of CSCSD.
The First Lady of the state was also invited to attend the political forum on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in New York as being a champion of UN SDG.
Mrs. Abiodun, while accepting the appointment stated that she would mobilise multi-stakeholders partnership, for SDGs’ implementation in Ogun State, at the sub-national level and also pledged her commitment to participate in the forum.
She also said she “would assist her in pushing global agenda for local adaptation, urging the coalition to keep up the good work and come up with quality idea to support the new administration in the State.”
The Coordinator, CSCSD, MS Moji Akinsanya, in the meeting said Mrs Abiodun is expected to establish a pet project to drive some of the SDGs in the state.
She also said the First Lady would provide voluntary support, participate in SDG Walk, at both local and national, as well as, international media endorsement.
Ms Akinsanya also disclosed that Mrs. Abiodun and the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, would be formally decorated at the Second International Stakeholders’ Conference on SDGs, which would be hosted by Ogun State, between October 28 and November 1, 2019.
The CSCSD team commended the recent hosting of 2019 celebration of International Widows’ Day, which empowered more than one thousand widows, saying it was a positive demonstration of Mrs. Abiodun’s commitment to improve the lot of the vulnerable.
