In a significant move to break the silence surrounding gender-inclusive advocacy, the Life After Abuse Foundation (LAAF) has announced it will host a high-level global webinar on April 11, 2026, titled to confront the hidden crisis of male domestic violence. Scheduled for 5:00 PM (WAT), the event underscores the foundation’s commitment to evidence-driven policy advocacy and support for underserved victim groups.
The webinar aims to dismantle the stigma and systemic barriers that often prevent men from seeking help. By bringing together a multidisciplinary panel of international experts, the session will address the multifaceted nature of abuse, ranging from mental health struggles and legal inequities to digital safety and media bias.
A Distinguished Panel of Global Advocates
The session will be led by Halima Layeni, a prominent Men’s Mental Health Specialist and the CEO of Life After Abuse Foundation. Under her leadership, the organization has emerged as a frontrunner in advocating for male survivors, pushing for a more comprehensive understanding of domestic abuse that transcends traditional gender narratives.
“Our mission is to ensure that conversations around domestic violence reflect the full scope of lived realities,” stated Halima Layeni. “By convening this global panel, we are not just sharing stories; we are driving international engagement to fix the systemic gaps that leave male victims overlooked and unsupported.”
Joining Layeni is a diverse lineup of specialists, including Michael Roberts (USA), a trauma-informed cybercrime investigator; Larry DeMarco (USA), Founder of The Family Court Custody Bootcamp and Executive Manager at the International Council for Men and Boys; David Kernohan, a mentor and founder of Mentoring Through The Maze and Men’s Grief and Identity Mentor; Hemangi Tripathi (India), a legal practitioner and men’s rights advocate; and Mark Brooks (UK), Chairman of the ManKind Initiative. The proceedings will be moderated by Bianca Garibaldi, a forensic psychology specialist from Ireland.
Tackling Institutional Bias and Recovery Pathways
The webinar is structured into five expert-led segments designed to provide a roadmap for both survivors and policymakers. Key focus areas include the global mental health impact of abuse on men, the specific digital vulnerabilities survivors face, and the institutional biases inherent in family courts and media representation.
The foundation emphasizes that the event is more than a discussion; it is a call to action to improve recovery pathways and legal protection. The sessions will culminate in a dynamic panel discussion and an interactive Q&A, allowing participants to engage directly with the experts.
Through this initiative, the Life After Abuse Foundation continues to set a new standard for inclusive advocacy, ensuring that the complexities of male victimization are integrated into the broader global discourse on human rights and safety. Registration for the event is currently open to the public via their official portal.
