The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Education, Mrs. Olabisi Ariyo has called on parents to ensure that their children and wards resume for the new academic session immediately.
Speaking in Lagos, today, during an inspection tour of schools to assess the level of compliance with resumption date, Ariyo said schools have fully resumed in Lagos State and that students are expected to be in school.
Accompanied by the Director General, Office of Education Quality Assurance, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo and other top officials of the Ministry, the permanent secretary decried the low turnout of students in some schools visited and attributed this to the contradictory resumption dates as announced by both State and Federal Government.
She explained that there was no point extending the holiday to allow the students to cover the syllabus on time.
She urged parents to ensure that their children return to schools, while also advising Principals and teachers to use the school facilities judiciously and also ensure that the school environments are kept clean and conducive for learning.
Among the schools visited are District Junior Secondary School, Dairy Farm Senior Secondary School, Sango Junior Secondary School (Inclusive) Agege, Agidingbi Junior and Senior Secondary Schools, Ikeja.
