Lagos State Government has reiterated its determination to continue to strive for the attainment of high standard in the education sector as a major catalyst for national development .
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Olabisi Ariyo, who made the remark at the ongoing eighth edition of Lagos Book Expo organised by the Lagos State Television in Ikeja, said developed nations all over the world paid greater attention to their educational service delivery, hence the need for Nigeria to do so as well.
Ariyo who spoke through Director of Administration and Human Resources in the Ministry, Omolara Akin-Aderibigbe, said all laudable initiatives of government were aimed at improving the learning process and environment in the education sector.
She lauded the initiative of the organizers of the Book Expo at reviving the reading culture of students and for offering opportunity for books to be purchased at discounted rates by Lagosians.
The twenty-fifteen Book Expo, themed “Information: Tool for Development and Advancement”, serves as a forum for publishers, booksellers, educationists, parents, students and all stakeholders in the education sector to interact and exchange ideas.
