In a strategic move to modernize the state’s education sector, the Lagos State Government has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Estar, a leading organization specializing in digital learning expertise.
The partnership is designed to integrate advanced digital platforms and infrastructure into all public primary and secondary schools across the state, ensuring that students in the public sector are not left behind in the global technological race.
Strengthening Student Competencies and AI Literacy
Through this collaboration, students will gain access to curriculum-based tools specifically designed to foster essential 21st-century skills. The initiative aims to move beyond traditional rote learning by prioritizing critical thinking, communication, decision-making, and leadership.
Notably, the program includes a robust focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills, preparing the younger generation for a workforce increasingly dominated by automation and data science. Beyond technical skills, the digital tools are expected to improve reading comprehension, student confidence, and active classroom participation.
Empowering Educators for a Digital Future
Recognizing that infrastructure alone is insufficient, the state government has committed to a comprehensive teacher training program. This ensures that educators are equipped to navigate these new platforms effectively and deliver more engaging, technology-driven lessons.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu emphasized the long-term vision of the project, stating:
“We signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Estar… to bring modern digital learning platforms and infrastructure into our public primary and secondary schools. We are investing in the training of our teachers so they can use these tools effectively and deliver more engaging lessons, with a clear focus on preparing our students for the future and improving learning outcomes across the board.”
This investment marks a significant milestone in the state’s educational roadmap, signaling a shift toward a green and digital economy by building a highly skilled, tech-savvy foundation from the primary level upward.
