In a strategic move to bolster healthcare regulation and quality assurance, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has officially approved the appointment of Dr. Victoria Egunjobi as the new Executive Secretary of the Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA).
Official Appointment and Commencement
The appointment was formalized through a letter dated April 10, 2026, issued by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro. The Governor’s approval signals a transition in leadership at the regulatory body, with Dr. Egunjobi set to assume her new responsibilities effective April 13, 2026.
In the official correspondence, Mr. Agoro emphasized the high expectations placed on the new appointee to maintain the state’s healthcare standards.

A Legacy of Public Health Excellence
Dr. Egunjobi transitions into this role from her previous position as the Director of Disease Control at the Lagos State Ministry of Health. During her tenure there, she was instrumental in coordinating interventions for both communicable and non-communicable diseases, significantly impacting the state’s public health landscape.
With over two decades of experience in the Lagos State Public Service, Dr. Egunjobi is recognized as a seasoned Public Health Physician. Her expertise is extensive, covering health systems strengthening and data management, maternal and child health initiatives, malaria control and family planning, and response mechanisms for sexual and gender-based violence.
Distinguished Career Path and Academic Background
Prior to her directorial role, Dr. Egunjobi held several pivotal positions within the Ministry of Health, including Health Management Information System Officer, Secretary of the Health Research Committee, and Reproductive Health Coordinator. Her diverse background in the Planning Division and as a Verification Officer for the State’s Births and Deaths Registry has equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of the state’s medical infrastructure.
Her academic credentials further support her appointment to the regulatory agency. An alumnus of the University of Lagos, she holds degrees in Physiology, Medicine, and Surgery, as well as a Master’s in Public Health. Additionally, she earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Economics from the University of Aberdeen.
Dr. Egunjobi is a member of the West African College of Physicians and an associate member of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, solidifying her status as a leading expert in her field.
