The Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA) is working with the Excellence Community Welfare Scheme (ECEWS) to take HIV testing services to more hard-to-reach communities across the state.
The partnership was discussed on Thursday, September 3, 2026, when the ECEWS team paid a courtesy visit to the agency’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Folakemi Animashaun, at LSACA’s conference room.
The meeting centred on how both organisations can reach communities where residents have limited access to HIV prevention, testing and treatment services.
ECEWS asks for HIV test kits
The Team Lead of ECEWS, Dr. Idayat Uthman, said the organisation wants to work with LSACA to identify communities that are underserved and find practical ways to increase HIV testing in those areas.
Uthman said some residents still face barriers to accessing HIV services because of where they live.
She also asked LSACA to provide HIV test kits to support testing activities in communities and hard-to-reach locations.
According to her, working closely with the state agency would help ECEWS identify gaps in service delivery and reach more people who may otherwise be missed.
LSACA promises wider reach
Animashaun welcomed the proposed collaboration and said LSACA was ready to work with stakeholders to strengthen the state’s response to HIV.
She said community-level interventions remain important because people need to be able to access HIV services close to where they live.
“Reaching people where they live and ensuring that no community is left behind remain key priorities,” Animashaun said.
She added that LSACA would continue to work with partners to improve access to HIV testing and treatment and support the state’s efforts to meet its HIV targets.
