In commemoration of World Mental Health Day, the Life After Abuse Foundation (LAAF) has reached out to male individuals struggling with drug addiction at the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development Rehabilitation Centre in Magodo, Isheri.
LAAF, a prominent non-profit organization devoted to aiding individuals in their pursuit of mental and emotional well-being, hosted an inspiring mental health awareness program that deeply impacted the lives of those grappling with addiction. The event united remarkable personalities and resources to share tales of triumph over adversity and promote healthier expressions of masculinity.
The guest speaker Damilola Agboola, shared his personal journey of how he overcame drug addiction and found fulfillment in life.
Damilola detailed that he battled with Schizophrenia, a condition he has not only conquered but also utilizes to assist others on the path to recovery.
Damilola’s message resonated deeply with the audience, offering them hope, inspiration, and a tangible example of transformation.
His story stood as a beacon of hope for those facing the darkest of struggles, it also illustrated that recovery is attainable.
On her part, Princess Rufus, the Program Officer of LAAF, sensitized the boys and men on the significance of embracing healthy masculinity. She encouraged attendees to adopt positive aspects of masculinity while rejecting harmful stereotypes, fostering an environment of respect and support.
