The Kukah Centre has apppointed Fr Barkindo as the Ag. Director of the centre.
His appointment followed the resignation of Dr. Arthur Aginam Martins who returns to the academia but serve will continue to serve as a Consultant to the centre.
Fr. Barkindo is a priest of Catholic Diocese of Yola, whee he was ordained in 2003.
He studies Arabic and Islamic studies, at Zamalek, Egypt where he obtained his BA in Islamic studies in 2007.
In 2016, he obtaibed Ph.D at the school pf Oriental and African Studies, SOAS, University of London and in 2016. His Ph.D thesis, History, Memory and Resistance of Northern Nigeria; the transformation of Boko Haram, was award the 2014 Horowitz Foundation grant for Social Policy.
He specialised in, Deradication and Reintegration of Violent Extremists, at the intenational Centre for political Violence and Terrorism Research Singapore.
In May 2016, Fr. Atta was selected as member of the UN Group of Experts to revoew the UN Handbook on countering violent extremism in Africa.
He is the author of three Reports, Internal Migration, Citizenship and Conflict in the Middle Belt Region of Nigeria, Gender Based Violence (GBV) in the Context of the Boko Haram Conflict, and How Boko Haram Exploits History and Memory, published by Open Doors International, World Watch Monitor and Africa Research Instiitute London.
Hitherto, he has been Deputy Director, Programmes at the Kukak Centre. He is coming to the Centre at a very crucial time in the history of our nation. Against the backdrop of Boko Haram and the culture of violence and death that has engulfed our nation, his edperience should position the Centre tp lead the charge for Nigeria’s restortion.
