Two of Kenya’s main private television stations resumed operations Monday evening after being shutdown by the government for seven days.
NTV and KTN were back on air after being switched off last Tuesday, alongside Citizen and Inooro, for airing live the mock swearing-in of the opposition coalition Nasa leader Raila Odinga the people’s president.
Citizen and Inooro TV stations were yet to be reinstated.
The Communications Authority of Kenya crackdown, however, spared the state-owned KBC and K24, which is associated with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The government then proceeded to defy a court order directing it to to reopen NTV, Citizen and KTN, attracting both international and local condemnation.
