International stakeholders Conference on SDG (ISTACON-SDG 18) will on Tuesday (today) kick off at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.
The two-day event is packaged by the Ogun State Civil Society Coalition on Sustainable Development , (CSCSD) themed: “Achieving SDGs in Ogun State through integrated and innovative partnerships”.
The event would bring together government officials, Civil Society actors, the private sector, academia, media and other non-state actors.
In a statement made available to CS Newspaper on Monday , Mr. Tola Adenekan, Mobilization & Media Officer, said the Head of Development Planning and inclusive Sustainable Growth at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) New York, Dr Babatunde Omilola arrived Abeokuta for the international conference.
Adenekan said Dr. Omilola will lead a team of resource persons from Ghana, Kenya, Cameroon, Republic of Benin and Togo to the conference.
“On Arrival, Dr Omilola met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo whom he personally invited to the Conference.
“He also visited the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto Abeokuta where he met and encouraged the planning team commending them for positive initiative in driving the Global Agenda.”
The Conference which would be declared open on Tuesday by the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, would bring together Government officials, the organised private sector, Acamedia, the Civil Society and Media to share ideas and best practices on the best approach in SDG implementation at the Sub-national level.
The distinguished individuals, the Wife of the Governor, Dr Mrs Olufunso Amosun, icon of Cinematography Mr Tunde Kelani and Fuji Mastreo, King Wasiu Olaosebikan Marshal, K1 De Ultimate would also be decorated as UN-SDG Champions during the programme.
