After three days of rigorous collation exercise, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared President Muhammadu Buhari president-elect, after scoring a total of 15,191,847 votes from the 23rd February Presidential election.
Incumbent President Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) however crossed the 15 million mark in votes scored in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, polling 15,191,847 votes to win the election. He won in 19 of the 36 states.
Trailing Buhari is former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 11, 255,978 votes, winning 17 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Buhari also satisfied the constitutional requirement of making 25 per cent in 34 states and the Federal Capital Territory. He missed the cut in Enugu and Anambra states.
The President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari and his deputy, Professor Yemi Osinbajo are to receive their certificates of return by 2pm according to the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu at the collation centre in Abuja.
