The ImpactHouse Centre for Development Communication has officially selected AjibareTalks as the debut voice to receive support under Zenzile, its virtual newsroom dedicated to accountability and public-interest communication. The organization confirmed that additional partners will be announced on a rolling basis.
This selection marks a strategic expansion of Zenzile’s mission to support citizens, digital creators, and folk creatives whose work increasingly shapes public conversations on governance, development, and the utilization of public resources. Through this initiative, ImpactHouse provides the crucial evidence, deep analysis, and communication support necessary to strengthen public-interest reporting and accountability advocacy across Nigeria.
Amplifying Grassroots Infrastructure Accountability
AjibareTalks is led by Oluwasegun Gbemileke Ajibare, a prominent Nigerian content creator whose podcasts and social media broadcasts critically examine governance and the quality of public projects in local communities, ranging from roads to borehole installations.
His work attracted widespread national attention earlier in 2026 after he publicly questioned the cost, quality, and transparency of a bridge rehabilitation project in Kwara State, north-central Nigeria. While the relevant authorities have disputed aspects of his commentary, ImpactHouse clarified that its interest is not in taking a side in the dispute, but rather in protecting the legitimate right of citizens to question how public resources are used. The organization maintains that such civic questions are most effective when grounded in verified evidence.
Defending Civic Space and Democratic Participation
ImpactHouse also acknowledged concerning reports that Mr. Ajibare was previously remanded in prison in connection with his public commentary. The media advocacy center strongly reaffirmed that questioning the use of public resources is a legitimate exercise of civic participation that must be rigorously protected within any democratic society.
