In a significant move to enhance the tactical readiness and safety of frontline officers, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, officially received a substantial consignment of protective gear donated by the U.S.-based Signal 63 Ministries.

The handover ceremony took place on Tuesday, April 22, 2026, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The donation, facilitated through the Fundamental Baptist Ministry International, represents a strategic partnership aimed at bridging the equipment gap for personnel operating in high-risk environments. The consignment includes specialized equipment designed to provide maximum defense for officers during field operations.

A Critical Intervention for Frontline Safety

While receiving the items, IGP Disu expressed profound gratitude to the donors, noting that the timing of the intervention is pivotal for the Force’s current internal security strategies.

He lauded Mr. Bill Graham of Signal 63 Ministries and the primary facilitators, Rev. and Mrs. Philemon Sidi, for their unwavering commitment to the welfare of Nigerian law enforcement.

The IGP highlighted that the provision of such high-grade gear is not merely a logistical upgrade but a psychological boost for the men and women in uniform. He noted that when officers feel protected, their operational confidence and efficiency in the face of danger increase significantly.

Commitment to a Professionalized Force

The Inspector-General emphasized that his administration is prioritizing the modernization of the police force through both local initiatives and international collaborations. He reiterated that the well-being and physical protection of personnel are the “cornerstones” of building a resilient, professional, and responsive police institution.

“This donation is a critical intervention aimed at enhancing the safety and operational confidence of our frontline personnel. My administration remains dedicated to equipping every officer with the necessary tools for effective service delivery, ensuring that we remain a formidable force against crime.” IGP Disu stated.

Strengthening International Partnerships

The ceremony concluded with a commitment from the Force leadership to ensure the judicious distribution of the protective gear to units across the country. The partnership with Signal 63 Ministries and the Fundamental Baptist Ministry International underscores a growing trend of international civil-society support for the Nigeria Police Force.

By integrating modern protective technology into daily operations, the NPF aims to reduce casualty rates and improve the overall security architecture of the nation.
