The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have begun a two-day technical workshop to improve how the commission communicates electoral information to Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The workshop, which began on Monday, August 24, and ends Tuesday, August 25, 2026, is focused on reviewing INEC’s Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and making the information easier for citizens to understand.
Improving Access to Electoral Information
The initiative is designed to help INEC provide clearer answers to questions citizens may have about the electoral process.
The organisers said the review would help ensure that information released by the commission is clear, accurate and accessible, particularly as preparations for the 2027 elections gather pace.
The collaboration is also expected to strengthen INEC’s public communication and help voters better understand their rights, responsibilities and different stages of the electoral process.
Building Public Trust Ahead of 2027
The workshop is part of broader efforts to encourage informed citizen participation and public confidence in the electoral process.
The programme is being implemented with support from the UK in Nigeria as stakeholders step up preparations ahead of #NigeriaDecides2027.
By improving the way electoral information is presented to the public, the initiative seeks to make it easier for Nigerians to get reliable answers to questions about the elections and engage more effectively with the electoral process.
