“Dear Man” Offers Emotional Healing and a Call to Redefine Masculinity
In a bold and compassionate step toward addressing the silent mental health crisis among men, mental health advocate and founder of the Life After Abuse Foundation, Halima Layeni, has launched her latest book titled Dear Man: If You Carry The Weight, This Is Your Invitation.
The book, which explores the emotional and psychological challenges faced by men, aims to break long-standing societal taboos and offer a space for healing, reflection, and emotional freedom.
A Brave Invitation to Feel and Heal
Published at a time when male suicide rates and emotional distress continue to rise globally, Dear Man is both a literary offering and a call to action. Layeni describes the book as “a heartfelt letter” to men who have been conditioned to carry their struggles in silence.
“This book was born from years of witnessing the silent suffering of men in communities, in therapy sessions, and on the streets,” said Layeni. “Dear Man is my heartfelt letter to them — a reminder that they are seen, heard, and worthy of emotional freedom.”
Three-Part Journey: Expectations, Battles, and Healing
Dear Man is structured into three poignant parts:
-
The Weight of Expectations
-
The Inner Battles
-
The Healing Journey
Each section guides readers through deeply reflective narratives, practical exercises, and affirmations that challenge toxic masculinity and open doors to self-awareness and transformation.
Layeni emphasizes that the book is “not just a book, but a movement” — one aimed at fostering a culture where emotional honesty is normalized and celebrated.
A Resource for Men and Mental Health Advocates Alike
While written primarily for men, Dear Man is also a valuable resource for mental health professionals, educators, faith leaders, parents, and partners. It offers a framework for understanding the emotional needs of boys and men and promotes a more compassionate, inclusive approach to masculinity.
