In a bid to address the low level of knowledge about family planning in Lagos State,The Challenge Initiative (TCI) and Development Communications Network (Devcoms) have embarked on advocacy visits to reputable media platforms in the state. The partnership aims to promote quality content on family planning and child spacing, dispelling myths and misconceptions surrounding the issue.

TCI, with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, has been at the forefront of advocacy for comprehensive family planning engagements in Nigeria. The FP Lagos Intensification Phase, launched earlier this year, seeks to increase family planning uptake in Lagos State.

Devcoms, with its expertise in public communications, is working with TCI to disseminate accurate information on family planning to the public, particularly in grassroots communities. The partnership aims to address issues such as commodity security, traditional method use, fear of family planning, and low intention to use contraception.

During a visit to Lagos Television, Olumayowa Adeniran, Technical Consultant for FP Media Intervention Project, emphasized the importance of collaboration between Devcoms and LTV to increase quality family planning information dissemination. Adesola Ibironke Kosoko, General Manager of Lagos Television, assured the team of necessary assistance and support.

The advocacy train also stopped at Lagos Radio, Eko FM, LagosTalks and Nigeria Info FM where the team received a warm reception and assurances of commitment to partner with Devcoms in promoting family planning initiatives.

With this partnership, TCI  and Devcoms aim to make a significant impact in promoting family planning awareness in Lagos State, ultimately improving the health and well-being of individuals and families.”
