Former Group Managing Director (GMD) of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Dr. Maikanti Kacalla Baru, is dead.
Baru died on Friday after a brief illness at an Abuja hospital.
He was at the helm of the Corporation from July 4th 2016 to July 7th 2019.
His death was confirmed by NNPC Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs, Dr. Kennie Obateru.
“NNPC Group Managing Director, Mallam Mele Kyari expressed shock over the sudden death of Dr. Baru who was the 18th Group Managing Director of the Corporation,” a release by the NNPC stated.
Kyari described Baru as a man ‘of exemplary character and disposition.’
Baru aged 60 before his death.
