The Federal Government has officially opened applications for the second cohort of its flagship Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme. This initiative is designed to bridge the country’s skills gap by equipping young Nigerians with practical expertise across high-demand industries, fostering a new generation of entrepreneurs and skilled professionals.

Speaking on the launch in Abuja, the Honourable Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, emphasized that the initiative is a cornerstone of the administration’s long-term economic strategy.

“This programme is a strategic intervention aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We remain deeply committed to human capital development as a primary driver for national progress and economic stability,” Alausa stated.

Expanded Training and Financial Support

The programme offers intensive, hands-on training sessions lasting either six months or one year, hosted at accredited centers across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). To alleviate financial burdens on participants, the Federal Government has committed to providing a monthly stipend of ₦22,500 for the duration of the course.

Upon successful completion, graduates will receive nationally recognized certifications, significantly enhancing their employability in both local and international labor markets.

Diverse Sectors and Inter-Ministerial Collaboration

The curriculum has been tailored to meet the needs of the modern economy, covering a broad spectrum of industries including ICT, construction, agriculture, and automotive technology. Aspiring creatives can also find opportunities in creative media, fashion, cosmetology, and leather works. Notably, the Ministry of Education is collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture and Tourism to specifically bolster training within the creative and cultural sectors, recognizing their potential for massive job creation.

Strict Accountability and Application Process

To maintain the integrity of the scheme, the government has introduced stringent monitoring measures. Attendance will be tracked via biometric systems, and the disbursement of stipends will be strictly tied to trainee compliance and participation.

Eligible Nigerians are required to provide their National Identification Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BNV) during the registration process on the official portal. The Ministry has urged the youth to seize this opportunity to acquire market-relevant skills that will drive personal economic productivity and contribute to the nation’s industrial growth.
