The learning environment at the Government Junior Secondary School Koroduma, located in the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, has completely deteriorated, leaving over 225 enrolled students to study under extreme and hazardous conditions daily.
Public accountability organization, Tracka, exposed the severe infrastructural decay during a recent monitoring exercise, revealing that the facility lacks basic features necessary for human habitation, let alone academic instruction. According to field reports, the classrooms are completely without flooring, doors, windows, or ceilings, exposing young learners to harsh weather elements beneath a heavily leaking roof and fractured, broken walls.
A Severe Scarcity of Learning Tools and Teaching Staff
Beyond the visibly crumbling structures, the school is suffering from a total collapse of educational resources. There are currently no textbooks, no laboratory equipment, and an acute shortage of teachers to handle the student population, effectively stalling any meaningful learning activity in the community.
Expressing deep concern over the development, Tracka firmly called on the state leadership and educational authorities to intervene before the situation degenerates further.
“We implore your office, the state government, and the Ministry of Education to facilitate the immediate construction and equipping of proper classrooms, laboratories, and examination halls. Every child deserves access to quality education.”
Call for Urgent Intervention from Governor Abdullahi Sule
The accountability group has issued a direct appeal to the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB), the Federal Ministry of Education, and the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Gov. Abdullahi Audu Sule, urging them to mobilize resources to fix the dilapidated institution.
Community stakeholders are hopeful that the state government will respond swiftly to this exposure by launching an immediate rehabilitation project to provide a safe, fully equipped, and dignified learning environment for the children of Koroduma.
