Clean-up Isolo (Green ValentineClean-up Special) Projectis a concept from the Clean-up Nigeria Project to celebrate the season of love; it’s an offshoot of February being the month of love and African Clean-up Initiative in her usual practice of engaging communities with clean-up and advocacy activities choose to do something different to celebrate the valentine season.
The Convener of Clean-up Nigeria Project that has successfully carried out 12 different Clean-up projects in Lagos state, Mr. Alex Akhigbe disclosed to us during the interview that Clean-up Isolo project was carried out by African Clean-up Initiative in partnership with Greenhill Recycling.
We were very privileged tohavethe support a host of Green Organisations likeRecyclePoints, Enpact Health, Safety and Environment Company, Miss Environment International, Rethink Media, Shobbu, Ecoprune, Harvest Recycling, Susty Vibes, Climate Wednesday, FABE, Eco Nigeria and Solomon Photography in this Green Valentine Clean-up Isolo Special.
The Green Valentine Clean-up Isolo Special also featured Green Celebrities like Lolo 1 of Wazobia FM (Omotunde Adebowale David), Miss Environment International Queen (Abidemi Akinrinmade) and TVC News Anchor/ Eco Journalist (Ugochi Oluigbo) in the clean-up activity. They were all present to show their love for the environment as they all join us in the cleaning of gutters, streets and blocked drainage.
We had volunteers from different part of Lagos joining us to clean-up Isolo. One volunteer also came from Ibadan. We had the Artisans in the community (Taiwo Street, off Ago-Palace Way, Okota. – Mechanic Village) where we focus on in the clean-up exercise joining us in the clean-up.
Alex Akhigbe further pointed that, “the Clean-up Nigeria Project is a platform designed by African Clean-up Initiative to inspire and raise Environmentally Responsible Citizens in Nigeria. Africa.”
The event witnessed the endorsement and presence of Lagos State Ministry of Environment, Lagos State Waste Management Authority, LAWMA, Isolo Local Development Area Environmental Officers on ground in their numbers to monitor and supervise the clean-up activity.
