The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed allegations from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) claiming that civil servants are being pressured into joining the ruling party through its ongoing electronic registration exercise.
In a press statement released Monday in Abuja, the APC described the claims as entirely false and baseless. The party characterized the allegations as a desperate attempt to undermine the digitization of its membership register.
According to the APC, the ADC’s recent comments are part of a broader disinformation campaign. The ruling party specifically referenced the recent circulation of a forged membership slip which falsely suggested a known terrorist had joined the APC ranks.
The statement noted that the e-registration exercise has seen significant voluntary participation from citizens. The APC attributed this turnout to public support for the Renewed Hope Agenda, stating that millions of Nigerians have registered of their own accord.
Due to what the party described as overwhelming popular demand, the APC leadership has extended the registration deadline from January 31 to February 8, 2026.
The APC further asserted that the ADC appears intimidated by the success of the digital initiative. The ruling party maintained that it remains focused on its goal of being a leader in democratic innovation despite the criticisms from the opposition.
