The Lagos State Governor,  Akinwunmi Ambode has ordered the immediate closure of Mile 12 market, Ketu, following the disturbance that took place yesterday at the market.

The closure order came following news that some miscreants and criminal elements have exploited that dispute to cause a breakdown of law and order within the area.

According to the Governor, these type of clashes do occur from time to time in a multi-ethnic city like Lagos and the Government has always responded appropriately.

Ambode urged traders, community leaders and other stakeholders to eschew violence and be calm and law abiding while also assuring Lagosians that his government will not shy away from its responsibilities to protect lives and property and will deal decisively with those criminal elements who fan embers of ethnic strife.

The market is a popular one and it houses various ethnic groups who use the market to earn their livings.
