The All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted its Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima named as chairman and vice-chairman of the council respectively.
The party chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, will also serve as vice-chairman, while former Zamfara State governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has been appointed Director-General of the campaign council.
Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State will serve as secretary, with APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman appointed deputy and assistant secretaries respectively.
The council will oversee the party’s campaign activities ahead of the January 2027 elections and includes several senior party members, serving and former government officials, legislators and political figures across the country.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Saturday, August 22, 2026, by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
Tinubu charged members of the council to work tirelessly towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 elections and urged the leaders of the various directorates to reach out to other party members who were not included in the published list.
Yari Named DG as Uzodimma Emerges Campaign Council Secretary
Yari will coordinate the overall activities of the campaign council as Director-General, while Uzodimma will serve as secretary.
The council’s leadership will include an advisory body comprising Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni have been appointed deputy directors-general for the southern and northern parts of the country.
They will work alongside Senator Bamidele Opeyemi and Senator Jibril Barau in the two zones.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole will serve as deputy director-general in charge of mobilisation, while the Chief of Staff to the President will serve as deputy director-general for administration.
James Abiodun Faleke, who played a key role in the 2022/2023 campaign, has also returned as deputy director-general for election planning, coordination and monitoring.
Akpabio, Abbas, Buni Named Deputy Directors-General
Faleke will work with zonal directors responsible for coordinating election planning across the six geopolitical zones.
Senator Olushola Adeyeye will serve as zonal director for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, and Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East.
Muntaqha Rabe will coordinate activities in the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso will serve in the North-Central, while Senator Sani Danladi will coordinate the North-East.
Ms Stella Okotete, Engineer Abdullahi Garba Ramat and Audu Maikori will serve as secretaries of the election planning directorate.
The legal directorate will be headed by Muiz Adeyemi Banire, with Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala serving as deputies.
Other members of the legal team include Prince Lateef Fagbemi, former Katsina State governor Ibrahim Shema, Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.
Tinubu Charges Council Members to Deliver APC Victory in 2027
The media and strategic communication directorate will be coordinated by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi.
Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu will work alongside the minister, while Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka will serve as coordinating deputy directors.
Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke and Frederick Nwabufor will serve as coordinating secretaries of the media directorate.
Segun Dada has been appointed Director of New Media, a position he also held during the 2022 campaign, while Solomon Arowolo will serve as Secretary of New Media.
The campaign council has also appointed five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake. The other spokespersons are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.
Tinubu said the APC had achievements to present to Nigerians as the campaign season approaches, urging members of the council to communicate the administration’s record and give citizens confidence in the country’s economic direction.
He said the campaign team should work to secure victory for the party while reaching out to other members who could contribute to the campaign, regardless of whether their names appeared on the formally released list.
